Oxem S.p.A. marked the opening of its brand new 200,000 tons biodiesel facility by inviting more than 300 guests to the opening ceremony at Mezzana Bigli, Pavia, Italy.
The event started with a round table on biofuels and climate chaired by the journalist Lucia Annunziata. Participants to the round table included Andrea Ronchi, Minister for European Politics of the Italian Government and Prof. Umberto Veronesi, Director of the European Institute of Oncology.
OXEM S.p.A. was founded in 2006. The company has invested over 50 million euros in a state of the art vegetable oil refinery and biodiesel plant. The plant, which started production in February 2009, is inserted in an existing chemical site located at Mezzana Bigli, about 70 km from Milan, and it is connected via pipe-line to the nearby ENI refinery of Sannazzaro de’ Burgondi.
The plant has been designed by Desmet-Ballestra which, with more than 85 biodiesel plants in the world, is leader in biodiesel technology.
