Production
The plant has been designed by Desmet-Ballestra which, with more than 85 reference biodiesel plants in the world, is the leader in biodiesel technology.
The plant, which includes a vegetable oil pre-treatment section, is based on a continuous multi-feedstock process.
Being integrated into the OXON chemical site OXEM has ample stock facilities and preferred access to the utilities and infrastructures that already exist resulting in significant operational synergies and cost efficiencies.
The vegetable oil refinery and the transesterification unit have a capacity of more than 200,000 tons per year; glycerine production capacity is 20,000 tons per year.
A by-product of the vegetable oil refinery are phospholipidic gums (production of over 10,000 tons/year at full capacity) which have interesting applications in related markets.
